We are Family Lawyers, we love what we do & we do it for you

From the beginning of our time in family law, we have questioned the family law process. We have seen how people who are already broken by the end of their marriage or relationship have been again broken by our legal system. That is the old way of family law.

We believe in a new way, where families are guided through a respectful separation process with care and a focus on nurturing relationships and finding a resolution tailored to their legal, emotional, and financial needs.

It all starts with you… we would love to hear from you today to understand who you are and how we can help you.

If you want to know a bit more about us, feel free to continue reading

Taryn

Hi there and welcome, I am Taryn

I am a Family Lawyer and have practised family law exclusively since starting my career.

I grew up in a small town in Western Australia. I went to school in that small town. I always knew I wanted to see the world. People and other cultures fascinated me. At 18 I waved goodbye to my family and headed overseas to find adventure. For over a year I travelled to numerous countries, meeting different people who spoke their own languages and I learned the important art of communication.

After returning to Australia, I completed my Bachelor of Psychology degree in far North Queensland. Followed closely by my Bachelor of Law with Honours. I developed a fascination with the entanglement of Law and Psychology. I knew I wanted to work with people. It felt a natural progression that my strengths and interests fell heavily into the family law realm.

Helping people during one of the most difficult times of their lives felt good. I quickly developed a style which included a gentle empathising touch for my clients combined with a highly strategic approach to their matter to achieve the ultimate outcomes they desired. Clients often indicate that they find the family law process complex and frightening. My goal is to simplify this process and guide the matter to resolution wherever possible. In circumstances where early dispute resolution is not achievable, court intervention may be the only way forward and in those cases a focus on strategy, preparation and advocacy is key.

It has been well over 12 years in this space, I am home – the place I am meant to be. The truth is, it is you, the people, the families and the stories that continue to captivate my interest. By trusting me as your lawyer you are letting me into your family circle. The most precious thing in the world. Your hopes, dreams, fears, successes, challenges and secrets. Your business, your home, your children, your life. I am privileged to be a part of it and to help guide you to a resolution which best achieves your future goals.

After all, this story is about you, not me.

Josephine

Hi there and welcome, I am Josephine

I am a Family Lawyer and an Accredited Family Dispute Resolution Practitioner.

I grew up participating in the Performing Arts. I would act in plays, and I loved the excitement of getting onstage and performing. I especially enjoyed Courtroom dramas and I would imagine myself in the Courtroom making arguments. This led me to study law as I relished the intersection of peoples’ stories and the law.

In the early days of my career, I found myself working in barristers’ chambers, following them to court, learning the art of advocacy and sinking my teeth into legal strategy. I was so keen to get into the courtroom, I started appearing in court as a clerk before I was a solicitor.

I have now been a family lawyer for almost 10 years. These days, what sets me apart is my ability to dig deeper than just the legal issues. People are complex and we cannot simply deal with one aspect of a problem and believe it to be solved. I aim to guide my clients strategically and holistically, which involves a consideration of the legal, relational, emotional, and financial aspects of their problems, so we can find the best result for them.

My focus is on finding respectful processes to reach a resolution outside of court. However, when a situation calls for court intervention, I have extensive experience appearing as a skilled and strong solicitor advocate before the court.

As my experience has grown and my career has developed, I have found what drives me most is being involved in the transformation my client’s make from the start to the end of their matter. Their growth, development and outcomes mean everything to me.

That’s a bit about me, now I would like to hear your story and to help you on a path to finding the best resolution for you.
