Our Team

Taryn - Co-Founder & Family Lawyer

Hi there, I am Taryn and if you're here, you're likely going through something really tough. I want you to know, you're not alone.

I’m a Family Lawyer, and I’ve worked exclusively in this space for over 15 years. I support people through some of the most emotionally charged, life-defining chapters they’ll ever face. And while the law is my toolkit, it's your story that shapes the way I use it. I grew up in a small town in Western Australia. I went to school in that small town. I always knew I wanted to see the world. People and other cultures fascinated me. I have always had big curiosity. After school I headed overseas to find adventure. For over a year I travelled to numerous countries, meeting different people who spoke their own languages and I learned the important art of communication. After returning to Australia, I completed my Bachelor of Psychology degree in far North Queensland. Followed closely by my Bachelor of Law with Honours. I developed a fascination with the entanglement of Law and Psychology. I knew I wanted to work in a space where people and problem-solving came together and that’s exactly what family law is.

Helping people during one of the most difficult times of their lives feels good. I quickly developed a style with a gentle empathising touch combined with a highly strategic approach. Clients often indicate that they find the family law process complex and frightening. My goal is to simplify this process and guide the matter to resolution wherever possible.

In this work, I blend strategic clarity with calm, confident guidance. Whether we’re navigating parenting arrangements, property division, or the emotional messiness of separation, I’ll help you make smart and focussed decisions that reflect who you are and where you want to go next. In circumstances where early dispute resolution is not achievable, court intervention may be the only way forward and in those cases a focus on strategy, preparation and advocacy is key.

Helping you find resolution isn’t just my job. It’s my purpose. The truth is, it is you, the people, the families and the stories that continue to drive my focus to making the world of family law a better place for those who must traverse it. By trusting me as your lawyer you are letting me into your family circle. The most precious thing in the world. Your hopes, dreams, fears, successes, challenges and secrets. Your business, your home, your children, your life. I am privileged to be a part of it and to help guide you to a resolution which best achieves your future goals. After all, this story is about you, not me.

Josephine - Co-Founder, Family Lawyer & Accredited Mediator

Hi there, I’m Josephine and I’m really glad you’re here.

I’m a Family Lawyer and an Accredited Family Dispute Resolution Practitioner. I know that reaching out to a family lawyer isn’t something most people ever plan to do. It often comes at a time when life feels upside down, uncertain, or incredibly emotional. If that’s where you are right now, I want you to know: I get it and I’m here to help guide you through.

From a young age, I’ve always been drawn to people’s stories. I grew up immersed in the performing arts, where I learned how powerful it can be to step into someone else’s shoes, to really understand what drives them, what challenges them, and what they need to move forward. That love for storytelling, combined with a fascination for justice and human relationships, naturally led me to family law. When I started my legal career, I spent my early years in chambers, working closely with barristers, watching them prepare, argue, and advocate. I loved the pace, the complexity, and the strategy. I couldn’t wait to get into court myself. I even started appearing in Court long before I was even admitted as a solicitor (with leave if the Court to do so, of course!).

I have now been a family lawyer for over 12 years. That early courtroom experience shaped me — and while I now guide most of my clients through respectful resolution processes outside of court, when court intervention is needed, I step in with strong, steady advocacy and a clear plan forward. What sets my approach apart is that I approach every family law matter with both a strategic and a human lens. I look at the legal issues, yes but also the emotional, relational and financial layers that sit beneath. I want to help you not just get through this process, but grow through it.

More than anything, I’m driven by the transformation I witness in the people I support. Watching clients regain their confidence, make thoughtful decisions, and move forward with strength that’s what makes this work deeply fulfilling. I want to help you make decisions you feel proud of, not just now, but years from now. People are layered. As such, their relationships, finances, family dynamics and emotions are all interconnected and meaningful solutions need to reflect that. I work with each client holistically to find a resolution that makes sense not just on paper, but in life. I look forward to learning what’s brought you here and helping you take the next step toward a resolution that reflects your values, your needs, and your life.

Megan - Family Lawyer

Hi, I’m Megan and if you’re here, you’re likely facing a season of change that feels uncertain and emotionally heavy. I’m here to help you find clarity and calm as we navigate it together.

I’m a Family Lawyer with a deep appreciation for what people go through behind the scenes the stories, decisions and emotions that come with separation, parenting, and rebuilding. Family law isn’t just a career I landed in it’s a space I was drawn to because it’s real, it’s human, and it’s where I feel I can make a meaningful difference. I began my legal journey in Melbourne’s southeast, where I started working in law shortly after finishing school. I experimented in different areas of law, but it wasn’t until I found family law in 2012 that I knew I was exactly where I was meant to be. While working as a family law paralegal, I studied part-time, often after hours and on weekends, and eventually achieved my law degree through Charles Darwin University in 2020. I was admitted to the practice of law in 2021.

I come from a working-class family nurses, tradies, and people who show up, work hard, and care deeply. I’m proud to be the first in my family to go to university, and I carry that sense of drive and humility with me in everything I do. I’ve witnessed the impact that relationship breakdowns can have not just on couples, but on kids, extended families, and entire futures. That’s what fuels my commitment to my clients every day. In 2021, my family and I made the move to Brisbane to embrace more sunshine, fresh air, and outdoor time with our little family. When I’m not lawyering, you’ll probably find me by the water, exploring a coastal town, checking out a market, or reading a good book. What I love most about family law is helping people make sense of what can feel like chaos. I’m here to listen really listen and to help you map out a way forward that fits your values, your priorities, and your future. I won’t give you cookie-cutter advice. I’ll take the time to understand your story, and help you make decisions with confidence and clarity. My role is to walk beside you through the emotions, through the uncertainty and help you reach the other side feeling supported and heard. Because in the end, this isn’t just about legal outcomes. It’s about helping people rebuild, with dignity and direction.

Madison - Family Lawyer

Hi, I’m Madison. Family law is rarely something people plan for. More often, it arrives unexpectedly and demands important decisions at a time when everything feels unsettled. My role is to bring structure, clarity, and calm to those moments so you can make considered decisions about what comes next.

I am a Family Lawyer, and I care deeply about helping people move through separation and family law challenges with clarity and confidence, because I understand that these matters are rarely just legal issues. They affect your home, your finances, your children, and your sense of stability. That responsibility is not something I take lightly.

I completed my Bachelor of Laws with Honours at Griffith University, followed by a Graduate Diploma of Legal Practice through the College of Law, after first obtaining a Diploma of Legal Services from TAFE Queensland. I have worked exclusively in family law throughout my legal career, beginning as a family law paralegal, where I developed a strong understanding of the legal and personal complexities that arise in separation matters. However, before immersing myself in the world of law, I worked as a chef, an experience that instilled discipline, resilience, and the ability to remain calm and focused in high pressure environments, qualities that continue to serve me well in practice. This background, combined with my legal training, shapes a practical and steady approach to family law.

Beyond qualifications, what matters most to me is how I show up for the people I represent: steady, thoughtful, and genuinely invested in helping them move forward with clarity and confidence.

As a mother, I understand how profoundly family decisions can shape not only the present but also the future. I know how important it is to feel heard when it comes to your children, your financial security, and the life you are rebuilding. That perspective informs the way I practise, with empathy and a pragmatic, strategic approach, and a clear focus on long term stability and sustainable resolutions.

I work across a broad range of family law matters, including parenting disputes, property settlements, financial agreements, and complex negotiations. Wherever possible, I aim to resolve matters constructively and without unnecessary conflict. However, I am confident appearing in the Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia when court intervention is required. When litigation becomes necessary, I approach it with preparation, focus, and a clear strategy, because in those moments, clarity and planning matter.

Although separation can feel destabilising, my aim is to help you regain your footing with practical advice and steady guidance, providing a pathway forward that makes sense for your life. Ultimately, this is not just about reaching an agreement or obtaining orders. It is about helping you move into your next chapter feeling informed, supported, and confident in the decisions you have made. Thank you.

Yashmin – Family Lawyer

Hi, I’m Yashmin. If you’ve found your way here, life may have taken an unexpected turn. I understand separation can bring uncertainty and important decisions at a time when everything feels unsettled. My role is to bring clarity, structure and reassurance so you can make informed choices about your future.

Before becoming a lawyer, I spent many years working in the not-for-profit community sector, supporting individuals and families through crisis, change, and deeply personal challenges. I advocated for vulnerable people, helped connect them with critical services, and often sat beside them in moments where they simply needed someone to listen. That work shaped me. It taught me that people don’t just need advice - they need to feel heard, understood, and respected.

That foundation continues to guide the way I practise family law. I believe everyone has the right to be fully informed, so they can make decisions with confidence and clarity.

I understand that behind every file is a person navigating uncertainty about their children, their home, their finances, and their future. My approach is calm, thoughtful, and steady. I aim to simplify what can feel overwhelming, explain your options clearly, and help you make decisions that feel both legally sound and personally right.

I work across parenting matters, property settlements and negotiated resolutions. Wherever possible, I focus on resolving matters constructively and without unnecessary conflict. However, when firm advocacy is required, I step forward with preparation and purpose. I believe strength and compassion can sit comfortably alongside each other and often, they must.

What matters most to me is that you feel supported throughout the process. Family law is rarely just about legal outcomes; it’s about helping you move forward with confidence into the next chapter of your life.

Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, travelling, and being outdoors. These spaces remind me of how important balance and perspective is in everyone’s life.

Please don’t hesitate to reach out to me for a chat. I’m looking forward to supporting you in the best way I can.

Tania - Senior Family Law Paralegal

“Every client has a different story. My job is to make sure they feel supported as they navigate it.”

Hi, I’m Tania and I’ve been working in family law since 2009, with over 38 years of experience as a legal professional. I have worked across many areas of law during my career, from commercial litigation and criminal law to wills and estates, but family law is where I’ve found the most meaning. After many years working alongside both Taryn and Josephine, I knew that when they opened FLRC, I wanted to be part of it. This firm is different. The way we prioritise people creates space for genuine care and connection. It’s not just about reaching a legal resolution; it’s about walking alongside clients in a way that helps them feel heard, informed and empowered throughout. In my role, I support our team and our clients through what is often one of the most emotionally challenging periods in their lives. I do my best to offer empathy and clarity, to explain things in simple terms, and to ensure clients feel they can ask for help if they are feeling overwhelmed or uncertain.

What I’ve learned over the years is that people are resilient. Even in the hardest seasons, they can adapt, grow and move forward and it’s a privilege to witness that transformation. At FLRC, my focus is on being a calm and capable presence for the families we help. Whether I’m coordinating documents, assisting with disclosure, or checking in with a client, I do my best to bring care and attention to every step. Outside of work, I love spending time with my family, especially my little grandson. I also enjoy discovering new parts of Queensland (North Queensland is a favourite!). I hope that when clients finish their journey with us, they feel supported, informed, and optimistic about what lies ahead.
